Unit died a month after manfctr warranty exp

I bought this unit not even 2 years ago and a month after the warranty expired from whirlpool the freezer stopped working. I didn't get a service warranty extension because I associated Whirlpool with quality and am regretting it. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started working (kind of) for the next few months. Finally after 4 months the unit freezer stopped working. And progressively the fridge stopped cooling, I contacted a local repair guy to take a look and confirmed the compressor failed. He wouldn't do the work and directed me to whirlpool. After telling the representative my problem and what the local guy found they offered to pay for the parts to repair and I was responsible for the labor. The contract company made repairs and it is working good (so far). I don't recommend this fridge or brand to anyone.

Noisy from day one..

We bought this unit 4/5/18 as a replacement for a double door Roper that we had for almost 20 years prior to compressor failure...This new unit makes more "occasional" noise from day one than the Roper did the day it failed...Off and on, you can hear it with its various mumming and ticking noises all the way across the house...and even upstairs on occasion. The shelving spacing setup is nothing to write home about either..It's a puzzle every day to get good use of the shelving....forget putting an open bottle of wine in the fridge...there is no place with enough height to accommodate..But the NOISE is the biggest issue...We got an extended warranty but where do you find someone to honor it...I hear the "fan blade" may be the problem...don't know...

I purchased this refrigerator 5 months ago and I am very disappointed. There is limited space on the interior shelves and even less space on the shelves of the doors. Ice builds up on the ice maker causing ice cubes to get stuck and not empty properly. Water is leaking from some unknown point inside the freezer and drips onto the bottom of the freezer compartment causing a thin film of ice to form. When the ice melts it then leaks out onto the floor. I am so frustrated!

Odor in new fridge will not go away

We purchased this refrigerator less than a month ago. A few days after we purchased it I opened it up to a fishy odor that both my husband and I can smell. There has not been any fish in it so not sure why the smell. I took everything out to check but there was nothing. Cleaned it well. Added box of baking soda. No change. Called Whirlpool and told to use activated charcoal and the elaborate process on the websites for getting rid of smells. That seems unusual for a brand new product but I added activated charcoal with no change. Purchased additional high tech deodorizer but still no change. I have never had this problem with any refrigerator ever before. Even if something stinky WAS in a fridge the smell went away as soon as the item was removed or cleaned up. And this is a BRAND NEW appliance. We currently have two other refrigerators in our home and none of them has or has ever had this smell. I was told Whirlpool would send a tech but if they could not find anything they would charge me for the service call. Seriously? I just paid for a new appliance and I'm going to be charged a service fee if you can't fix it? I have already personally spent several hours cleaning, speaking to the Whirlpool customer service number and the dollars are adding up for the deodorizing products I have purchased which have never been necessary before in a fridge. There is a lot to like in this refrigerator if I didn't have to smell the odor every time the door is opened. A new refrigerator should not smell this way.

I have had this refrigerator for a couple of months and find the inside quite small and at times inconvenient for my purchases. Also the fact fruit and vegetable drawers are not the same size is not convenient. Small size of door "baskets" makes some of them almost useless. I do like the freezer and it is sufficient size for my needs. I had to have this size refrigerator due to dimensions and location of where the appliances could go.

Defective door gaskets

Purchased this (White Ice Model) in April of 2014. The door gaskets are of very poor design. The upper flaps on both doors split, I have had a hard time trying to repair them because the whole door gaskets are very expensive. Will never buy Whirlpool again, no excuse for this happening, not at the price they want for it.

For the size of the refridge you would think the inside would be bigger. What I cant believe for the cost the inside drawers are not very sturdy, as a matter of fact I'm afraid they are going to break. The drawers are not like I said very sturdy.

Ok for its size, a few problems

This fridge fits in my limited space perfectly. It has smaller space inside the top part than the LG I replaced. Limits taller items, like milk cartons etc. It keeps things cool and is not as noisy as other fridges I have owned. I like that. The freezer space is very large.I don't like the way the flaps close between the doors. The plastic piece that snaps onto the drawers keeps falling off.

Ergonomically Friendly

Very quiet; doors seal tightly without "arm-stronging" them. An overlaying flap on one door completely seals both doors: Great Idea! Overhead LED lights are down the center of the inside cabin roof, light shows on all sides. Took a few days to get used to pulling out the drawers with the pull at the bottom, but the drawers slide easily. You do have to open both doors to pull out bottom drawer (all across the bottom), but you save valuable space that way. Love it!

Extremely happy except for one problem...

The design is well thought out for organizing the foods we need to store. We did not know a French door refrig would fit in our space and are so happy your unit would. The only problem we have is that the plastic stop on the front-top of the bottom pantry drawer continues to lift up and disassemble allowing the glass top to slide out of position. Should I put adhesive on it to keep it in place?

I really am very happy with this refrigerator. It is much easier to find items that somehow got lost in my old one. The french doors make it easier to see what is in it. Also, having the freezer on the bottom is much larger and fits more food.

Lovely Frig, but could use more room for tall items and one has to open both doors to get to things on the left. Also have to "push" the doors closed.
