What a poorly made piece of garbage.

I bought this fridge just over a year ago. After maybe 6 months, the circulation fan bearing went and stopped cooling the refrigerator section after screaming for a week. Called for service, technician came out and replaced the fan while also removing about 20 lbs of ice from behind the deli drawer. Side-note, the fan that he replaced was a cheap plastic Chinese fan that you would see in a computer case, not something I'd imagine rated for continuous use. Anyway, the unit cooled again for a few months and then everything started spoiling again (except for the deli drawer). Behind the deli draw is another giant chunk of ice, so I empty the unit, unplug it, use a hair dryer to melt all of the ice, plug it in and it seems cool enough 4 hours later, so I put food back in. Not 2 days later the entire air grid behind the deli tray is blocked with ice again, and I've ensured that the doors were closed tightly.
I've removed this ice block multiple times and it just comes back. I'm pretty sure that the tiny plastic circulation fan that was installed has died and since there is no air flow, ice forms blocking any circulation whatsoever. So, I have a nice looking $2500 fridge that is only capable of being a freezer and have lost at least a grand worth of food in the past year to spoilage.
This is a horrible design using cheap, sub-par components made in China. The sad thing is, our home came with an old Whirlpool standard refrigerator made in 1983 that we keep in the basement. That thing has been running for 35 years with zero service calls and it still functions perfectly and it probably cost around $350 when new. This is the norm with American appliances these days, you pay thousands for a nice Whirlpool, Maytag, Frigidaire or GE appliance but they don't last, ironically they have all reduced their 5, 10, 15 year or lifetime warranties to a year if you're lucky. We used to be able to buy a major American-made appliance and expect it to last at least 15 years, often well over 20 years. Now we're supposed to jump for joy and pat the manufacturers on the back if it makes it past the 12 month warranty.
My unit is probably 4-5 months past it's 12 month warranty. I can't wait for them to tell me that I have to either pay to fix it, or order an extended warranty. If that's the case, I''m tempted to spend the money to have it drop-shipped to Marc Bitzer's personal residence and leave it right in his driveway.
I checked reviews before I purchased this but it seems that people didn't start having major issues until after I purchased, but looking through the reviews now, this is a very common problem. Of the 514 reviews for this unit on this site, at least 100 are 3 stars or less, and 66 are 2 stars or below. That's 13% of just the people that have taken the energy to review that think this unit is less than 2 stars.
I'm disappointed in you Whirlpool.
